Chapter Seven deals with evaluating educational technology and integration strategies. It talked about Inspiration and Adobe Acrobat. Inspiration can make webs and maps. Adobe can help you create professional documents that can be distributed through the web. This program will be very helpful as a future teacher. It just shows you have to do lots of different things online. It lets you in on evaluation tools, resources and effectiveness of them. It also gave tips on how to create lesson plans and how to find the funds to support integration of technology into the classroom.
Again nothing new has happened in my technology learning world. Just the same old stuff. I guess I'm improving and practicing on the skills I have.
New stuff...well finals are coming up and I have a few papers due this upcoming week. Which is a bummer because I just got done doing a bunch of stuff this week and now I have a bunch to look forward to. Oh well, the semester is almost done and then its Christmas break which I am super excited for. I love Christmas time; the presents, the decorations and the weather!

Blog #6 (extra credit)
Chapter Six deals with technology, digital media and curriculum integration. In todays teaching world it is a necessary thing to integrate technology into our curriculum. Kids today are surrounded by technology and they can learn easier and better if they use it in the classroom as well. It sometimes can even allow a student to interact and play a more active role in the lesson. The hard thing is to make sure you know the goal of that assignment and not get off track of the lesson. Along with active learning there is authentic learning experiences that are possible with technology. Technology not only can help administer lessons but it can allow the teacher to organize and plan their lessons more accordingly.
To tell the truth I don't think I've learned any new technology skills. We have started to do research prompts as part of a survey so that is a new thing that has happened in our class technology wise.
This past week has been crazy school wise. I had a group presentation, music journals, a music test, an organizational behavior test, hour report papers and I had to finish a book all by well today. Lots of work this past week but I have seen Graham Gano, the Florida State Football punter twice! Which basically made my week.

Every week when we would do our blogs I would love to read what people have done in their lives the past week or so. I don't really know anyone in the class but it was still interesting when we could read about what people were doing. Writing about what I did in the past week was also the most fun part of writing the blog weekly. I like how we had to leave three comments as well, because when we would look through everyones blogs to find someones entry we found interesting we could read others comments and see what they thought about the person too.
While planning our final project in class my friend told me about this program from Microsoft called Publisher. I have never heard of it before. She told me in high school that she used it to make a pamphlet and it sounded really cool. It would also be a useful tool to use for my future classroom or future years of college.
I will probably fulfill my future technology goals by just staying up to date with the technology and programs that come out. In my college career my friends can inform me. Then when I become a teacher my students and fellow faculty can keep me up to date

Blog 9
As a teacher the web is a great tool for us to have and incorporate in our classroom. One web based tool teachers can use are search engines like Google. When you even "google" web teaching devices it gives you pages and pages of resources and information. The Internet if full of stuff and teachers can use that stuff if they choose to, to enhance the classroom.
Using Google, a teacher can use the different results that pop up. Each source that pops up can be used for different things and each one can help teachers of every subject area with that subject. Some results came up with math tools and others physics. One site even had a shape maker which can show kids the different shapes in 2-D and 3-D.
The next technology tool I would like to learn is how to make a web page. Also I would like to know more about ways to make presentations, charts, graphs and things so I can use them in my classroom. It would also be cool to incorporate the charts and things in the web pages. The Internet is such a popular thing now a days its inevitable to avoid it in the classroom.

Blog 8
Chapter 8 deals with all the things that can go wrong with computers. We learn that a compuer security risk is any event or action that can cause a loss of or damage to computer equipment. The chapter defines many bad things that happen to computers such as viruses, programs, theft and failure. In viruses there are many different types. Programs range from one end of the spectrum to the next they can help with anything. Chapter 8 just educates you in the things that go wrong in a computers system.
The new skills acquired have been brought by power point. For an assignment we made a game show and I never knew that was even possible. It was really cool to learn that a program that was simply only used for slideshows could be used to do alot more. I would of never know it was possible without that assignment.
The only new things are I just went home for the weekend so I could see my favorite band, Fall Out Boy perform. The show was amazing. Alot fancier than any of their old shows but still good. In the middle they did a few songs acousticly which topped it off as probably the best concert I've ever been too. Anyway thats really all that is new.

Chapter Six shows ways to intertwine the classroom and the technology that you can use. It also goes into different aspects of the computer like hardware, software, technology training and other aspects of technology. This chapter is especially helpful to because its objective is to make sure our curriculum is incorporated and such. It also goes into detail about the school district and how they can hurt and help. Integration was definitely the key word in the chapter.
New stuff... just more ways to incorporate the computer with future school work. Computers and the different programs are going to become a big part of the school work in my future.
This past weekend was parents weekend. It was alot more fun then I thought. My mom, dad and me went to the game which was lots of fun and exciting because we did pretty well in the game. They both had never been to a college football game. They were of course all decked out in FSU stuff as well. It was weird sitting in the parent section where you just really sit the whole time compared to the student section where you are constantly standing and yelling. It was also one of my good friends 20th birthday so of course we celebrated for her. It was a pretty good weekend.

Chapter five is about digital media and educational software applications. It talks about different parts of the digital media. Such as video, text and graphics. Other parts of digital media include electronic books, references and newspapers. All grade levels use digital media from kindergarden to college. They are used for presentations, tutorials and other types of learning. In every subject too.
I havent really acquired any new skills. Just the old ones are being refreshed.
New with me? Hmm I went home a few weekends ago it was fun. I went to Halloween Horror Night with some of my friends. I was the most scared so I provided the entertainment for the group. I missed home more then I thought but am very happy to be back in Tally.

Chapter four starts off describing the parts of the computer. I actually know most of this stuff from previous computer classes. Something interesting I found was the types of input and output, I guess I forgot about some of them. Input is a way of putting information or commands into the computer. This is done by many things, such as: keyboards, mouses, pointers, touchpad, touch screen, scanners, pens, cameras, and voice recognition. Keyboards are how most teachers input information into their computers. Most teachers perfer wirless/cordless boards. Scanners and cameras are how graphs or pictures are inputed usually. I guess I never realized pens (used for like blackberrys) or cameras or even voice recognition things were used as devices for input. There are four types of output: text, graphics, audio and video. Text is words or characters. Graphics are images such as pictures, graphs, charts or drawings. Audio examples are any music, speech or other sound that can be stored. And video consists of well video. One offious output device that never occured to me are the monitor screens. Others are printers and fax machines. Some storage systems are magnetic disks, floppies, zip disks, cd roms and dvds.
Nothing is really new. I'm going home this weekend so that is fun I havent been home since school started I'm looking forward to playing with my puppy. Her name is Maddie and she is the cutest thing ever!

In Chapter Three we were asked to examine different types of software. Such as application, productivity and multimedia software. While reading we learn that System software is really the outline to all types of software; they control the operations of the computer. Application software is designed to perform specific tasks. It can be used for many things such as business, school, home, communications and even for graphics. Productivity software allows people to be more effective and efficient while performing daily activities. Some examples of this kind of software are word processors and spreadsheets. Graphic software is also mentioned and through it you can create presentations. Which can be used for business, school and even personal entertainment. Multimedia software includes graphics and videos. Basically any type of software can be used, some more efficent in the work place versus the home but all in all they can be used in both.
For the past assignment we had to create a newsletter. I learned some helpful things about formatting and editing. Such as using columns, shading and hyperlinks. As well as reviewed old skills like clip art and word art. We also got to make up stories which was alot of fun; made me look forward to sending a monthly newsletter to all the parents.
In my Intro to Education class we found out that Florida is in the middle of all the other states regarding salary to teachers. We use to be at the very bottom. Also I learned some schools will help you fund further education. This information is especially helpful if I'm planning on getting a masters or anything and most likely I will be.

Well chapter one in the book was filled with common sense information to me. It listed basic concepts of different gadgets such as computers, lap tops, blackberry's, phones, tablets, and watches. I did learn about some concepts and systems I can use while in the classroom. Also the chapter explained the importance of technology in the classroom. One theory I learned about was created in 1983 by John Keller. It was a system that involved attention, relevance and challenge aspects towards the children. It proved to be successful in the classroom by the children walking away with confidence and an understanding on the information presented.
I never thought about it before but without technology we would be lectured to all the time by our teachers. Technology is a way to involve the children and hold their attention. Kids now a days are use to TV or video games both are fast paced and entertaining; you can't just throw them into a setting of books and papers and expect them to be entertained and pay attention. I also learned from reading the chapter that it can be used as a motivational tool. It helps build interactive skills, real life problem solving tools and supports communication.
The last bit of the chapter explains how each person in the school system uses the computer. Of course I want to be a school teacher but I eventually want to become a principal and with reading that section I saw some of the things I will eventually have to do.

Most of my work with computers has been with the Internet. I also have used it for school work with writing papers and doing various assignments using other programs. I am on AIM almost everyday. I have taken a computer class at FSU before during one of the summer sessions. I have a digital camera, i-pod and cell phone which I use daily. My experience with technology has been pretty good.
In this class I hope to refresh the basics of the different programs on the computer. Hopefully I will remember it when I have to use the programs to create lesson plans or anything else that would be associated with it.
I am a sophomore this year and I just switched my major to Elementary Education while I'm going to minor in Business. I would love to teach second grade and eventually become a principal. I am really looking forward to my second year of school.
